Our community partnership programme is designed to offer free room hire and resources to local groups to trail ideas that matter to the community.
How to apply for the community partnership programme (free hire):
Before you apply, please check if your project meets our criteria. Full details of the criteria can be found below. Complete the community partnership programme application form with as much detail as possible. Please familiarise yourself with our Values and Behaviour policy before completing and submitting an application.
The process
We have a limited allocation of programme spaces and we want to ensure we meet demand in the community.
New applications will be evaluated twice a year. Applications will be evaluated against our criteria as well as key themes emerged from the Love Grangetown survey.
Suitable activities will include weekly/monthly activities that can run for 12 months + between 1-3 hours per week. For different proposals that meet one or more of the criteria please come and talk to us.
The partnership is intended to last 12 months.
We will review your activity after six months to see where you are in your journey to support the Pavilion and its community. We will notify you by the nine month mark if we are able to offer you a second year based on the impact/success of your activity and overall demand for it.
We request an end of project report at the end of the 12 months whether we offer you a second year or not.
Criteria:
Groups should offer a free activity that is open to any user of the Pavilion. If your activity has specific areas of focus (i.e., age, supporting specific disabilities, etc.), please outline this. Grange Pavilion cannot support any activities that limit user involvement based on faith or political views as we are a faith and politically neutral facility.
The partnership programme is focused on supporting small or newly-formed groups that are not yet fully established in their governance and therefore have limited options for external funding to support their activities. If your group is a registered charity with access to external funding, please speak to the team about affordable charitable rates for hire.
The community partnership programme is focused on supporting locally formed groups, i.e., formed by individuals or groups currently resident in or focused on Grangetown or surrounding communities like Riverside or Butetown.
The programme is only available to community members who utilise the room to its fullest extent. The number of users in a session should be close to half that room’s capacity. This ensures we benefit as many locals and community members as possible. With increasing demand on our free hire allocation, we must rotate free bookings to cater to a large portion of the community. If your session is regularly undersubscribed, we may consider whether there is sufficient demand for it and potentially rotate the space to others.
As clearly stated in Grange Gardens park covenants, Grange Pavilion cannot be hired for religious services or for political activism/single-party political promotion. Faith activities open to all are permitted, as are political debates with equal representation from all parties.
Additional Rules:
- Alcohol or smoking is not permitted on the premises.
- Filming must be approved in advance.
- Hirers are responsible for any damages and must cover repair/replacement costs.
- Groups must provide relevant insurance, policies and certifications to cover for their proposed activity.
