Meet our Youth Forum

When I joined Youth Forum, I came to see why local politics mattered. Why people’s rights shape what is possible. I was doing things with the forum that were slightly out of my comfort zone but that is the place you get creative and are stretched and grow. You start to see what part you can play and what is possible… Nirushan Sudarsan

Young people have played an important role in our story. Their passion for seeing the area develop is inspiring. The Youth Forum – our membership group for young people aged 14 – 25 – brings them together to get involved in and to support activities and events, promoting the Pavilion and forging friendships at the same time.

Their way of working has been praised across the community and in the Press, The Grangetown News saying, “at a time when there is so much negativity towards young people the Grange Pavilion Youth Forum members are a credit to the community.” In the past they’ve won a National Doorstop Engagement Award for their work embedding sport and all its benefits, and the Joan Gallagher Award for Community Champions. Grangetown’s Girls Football Club (featuring coach and Youth Forum member Ayah Abduldaim) have featured on ITV news. SEE HERE

You’d be so welcome here. If you would like to find out more, please contact Ali Abdi at AbdiA1@cardiff.ac.uk He’s the Grange Pavilion’s Chair of the Board who inspired this group.
